AADD ("we," "our," or "us") runs the safe ride program described here. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it when you use the app.

The short version: AADD gives confidential, judgment-free rides. We collect only what the ride needs, and we do not report your ride history to your chain of command. Sections 3 and 4 cover who does see what.

Location Data:

  • GPS coordinates when requesting a ride (pickup location)
  • Real-time location for volunteer drivers during active shifts
  • Location data is only collected when the app is actively in use

Usage Information:

  • Ride request history
  • Volunteer shift records and hours
  • In-app messages between riders and drivers
  • App interaction data for service improvement

Device Information:

  • Device type and operating system
  • Push notification tokens for ride updates

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Coordinate and dispatch safe ride services
  • Connect riders with available volunteer drivers

  • Verify user identity for safety purposes

3. Confidentiality

Your ride requests stay between you, your driver and the dispatcher on shift. We do not share individual ride information with military command, supervisors, or your unit, except in the circumstances listed in section 4.

Aggregate, anonymized statistics (such as total rides provided) may be shared for program funding and support purposes, but these do not include personally identifiable information.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Volunteer Drivers: Your name, phone number, and pickup location are shared with assigned drivers to complete your ride
  • With Dispatchers: Volunteer dispatchers can view ride requests to coordinate services
  • Harm on a ride: We may tell base leadership, security forces or the police when someone is assaulted, threatened or in a fight, when there is unwanted sexual contact or pressure for it, when someone is seriously injured or needs medical help, or when a vehicle is damaged or property is taken. This applies whether the person involved is the rider, the driver or anyone else
  • Legal Requirements: If a court order, subpoena or other legal process requires it

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure authentication tokens
  • Access controls for volunteer dispatchers and administrators
  • Regular security reviews

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations:

  • Account information: Until you request deletion
  • Ride history: 12 months for service improvement
  • Chat messages: 30 days after ride completion
  • Location data: Only during active rides/shifts

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of non-essential notifications
  • Withdraw consent for location tracking

8. Location Permissions

The app requests location permissions for the following purposes:

  • Riders: To determine your pickup location when requesting a ride
  • Drivers: To share your location with riders and dispatchers during active shifts

You can disable location permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will limit app functionality.

We send push notifications to:

  • Update you on ride status changes
  • Alert drivers to new ride assignments
  • Notify dispatchers of new ride requests

You can manage notification preferences in your device settings.

10. Children's Privacy

AADD services are intended for military service members who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
